I suffered turkey failure, only getting out once.
Perhaps that's it, but scoring a turkey seems like sort of an odd thing to do.
No, scoring is a really good idea...those little diagonal cuts help the marinade soak in. Just make sure to cover back up with bacon (preferably some expensive sh*t) to make sure the meat doesn't dry out too much.

Posting the score sheet seems more productive than "grousing" about beard length, number of beards, other Freudian turkey-isms...
