Cagey's tip ups, as has been evidenced in previous fish porn of the perch and pickerel variety, only rise in the presence of real, catchable, trophy fish. I'd hate to live a life always sprung, "tipped up" as it were, with nary a bite, not even a nibble. Must be a tiring piscine performance indeed...
But suit yourself Ballerina Boy...the show must go on. You may want to adjust the tension on that thing, however, you being middle aged and all.
