ha ha. Other than the dogge, I fail to see the resemblance CB. I have never worn knickers in the field, I don't own a magical pumpgun of mystery, and everyone who's ever hunted with me knows that I am inseparable from my Filson blaze orange ball cap.

Perhaps the cover art here looks a bit more more like Cabin Wear to my eye. Not sure what the others think.

nice dogge though. excellent taste in dogges.

dude... if it WERE me, which it ain't... clearly I am pocketing a killed bird with my left hand while my dogge remains staunch on the second bird of the group. I am about ready to reload and kill the second bird of my eventual five bird limit for the day. The dogge will remain staunch throughout. And the birds will hold.

nah, its you Jim. Just look at the unmistakable face! So you played a little dress-up...I am SURE its not the first time. And knickers--well, who KNOWS what you wear around that little private farm of yours. God knows the Conventions of FASHION and STYLE have never detered you from wearing whatever it is that you wear.

And, since you recently initiated such a Freudian flurry o' fun, I thought your posing holding YOUR PUMP GUN with such a self-satisfied grin was just a statement of, well, self-satisfaction.

I for one was pleased to see you getting more in touch with yourself, and was glad that the boys at Sporting Classics affirmed you. I think you will fare better now on The Quiz (introduced to me by Karen Perkins- http://www.chroniclebooks.com/Chronicle/excerpt/0811845109-e0.html )

You go boy.

:)

pumpgun, shmumpgun. with my double barrel I can fire twice within, say, ten minutes. try that when your pumpgun jams up...

ha ha-good one. I hate it when the pumpgun jams up.

However, I must say the prospect of double guns in this context is a little frightening.

In any case, whatever other questions might remain, there is no question in my mind about the prowess of your dogge. Kate jokes are off-limits for me, given my debt to her (and her trainer).

that's what she said, eyeing my magnum loads....

You gotta love these old illustrations of this era, however.

My favorite is the one of a hunter, high on a mountain ride, finding a grizzly bear coming around the corner. The caption reads; "Big enough for the biggest game."

The hunter is carrying a Remington 1905.

I have an 05, and I'm afraid that it might be more practical to hand it to the bear and hope he's perplexed by the action while you make good your escape.

That should read "high on a mountain ridge". I haven't ad enough coffee yet this morning.

Nice to see you here, Yeoman!
