grous•ers 1. Persons who hunt, trap, or pursue various plump, chickenlike game birds of the family Tetraonidae, chiefly of the Northern Hemisphere and having mottled brown or grayish plumage. 2. Complainers, or grumblers, and those prone to general ranting. 3. A number of “smart guys who hunt” and their generally smarter companions.

I recently penned a few lines, brought back to the surface by McPhee's most recent retrieve:
"I seek only True North. My compass and my gun, they comfort me."
Perhaps McPhee is seeking True North as well?
Great post.
I feel like McPhee has been having his "last retrieve" for the past 3 years - Here's to many more!
Ol' McPhee's looking good. My kids thought he was Baxter... who also may be in his last season of "work". I brought one of my work crew out for a duck hunt his last work week, about 2 weeks ago, down to the coast. Baxter got a few retrieves. Hopefully I can bring him out once or twice more before the season's out.
