With a spaniel the rule is drakes only
Which results in hen mallards that are lonely
But when the lake's froze
The rule is anything goes
You can even use that setter lying pronely.
grous•ers 1. Persons who hunt, trap, or pursue various plump, chickenlike game birds of the family Tetraonidae, chiefly of the Northern Hemisphere and having mottled brown or grayish plumage. 2. Complainers, or grumblers, and those prone to general ranting. 3. A number of “smart guys who hunt” and their generally smarter companions.

In Maine the hen mallards we takes
along with their beloved fat drakes.
When fetched by a setter
what could be better?
They're tasty ferriggenchissakes!
In Canoga I hear there are duckers
Who play this old trick on us suckers:
They shoot drake over hen
Because THEY are sportsmen
But really they're a couple of fun-loving dudes.
